The 8th grade Childersburg Middle School Rocket Team awards ceremony was a very momentous one. Shown in the pictures are Mr. Kevin Connell, Director Of  Academics ( Alabama Aerospace Teachers Association ), Mr. Alex Stewart, Principal ( Childersburg, AL. Middle School ) , Mrs. Mary Hardin, Teacher / Sponsor ( Team America Rocketry Team Challenge ), Mr. Ronald Witherspoon,  Founder ( Birmingham Rocket Boys ) and student members of the 2004 Childersburg Team America Rocket Team. Because of the outstanding performance of the rocket team students, teacher and staff, special awards and gifts were given to all during the ceremony. Mr. Connell spoke words of encouragement and inspiration to the student assembly and afterward presented each rocket team member, Mrs. Hardin,  a Certificate Of Achievement from the Alabama Aerospace Teachers Association for being one of four teams in Alabama to qualify in the National Team America Rocketry Challenge competition. He also presented the team tickets to the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. A special letter was read by Mr. Connell from Mr. Larry Richardson one of Boeing's chief executives commending Mrs. Hardin and her rocket team students for a job well done and inspiring them to achieve their dreams. This letter was presented by Mr. Connell to Mrs. Hardin along with a special gift to her from the Boeing Company.    Birmingham Rocket Boys Founder, Ron Witherspoon can be seen posing with school Principal Mr. Alex Stewart and also with Mrs. Hardin and a student with their team rocket. We, the Birmingham Rocket Boys of Alabama, the Alabama Aerospace Teachers Association and the Boeing Company, wish the 2004 Childersburg Rocket Team a bright future, much success and God's speed.
