Ronald Witherspoon (Birmingham Rocket Boys Founder) pose with Mrs. Mary Hardin (Childersburg Middle School 8th Grade Teacher and "TARC" Instructor) and the 2004 "TARC" (Team America Rocketry Challenge) Class.

The "TARC" Class has already begun construction of their two-stage egg lofting rocket in hopes of qualifying for the National Competition to be held May 22, 2004 in Virginia. NAR and Birmingham Rocket Boys members Ron has been working with this "TARC" Class since January in helping them to prepare for this prestigious event.

"TARC" (Team America Rocketry Challenge) is an annual event that is sponsored by the NAR (National Association Of Rocketry) and the AIA (Aerospace Industries Association). The challenge is for qualifying high school and middle school teams to design and build their own two-stage model rocket which they will use to launch two raw eggs to an altitude of 1,250 feet and safely recover without breaking. A grand prize pool of over $50,000 in cash and savings bonds will be shared by the top ten teams.
